  21. Faced with current multi-faceted world of the  operating
  22. systems the user has always to choose between them.  And
  23. the  choice  is  not  always  the  best.  Now it is much
  24. easier to solve this  problem. OS Selector allows  using
  25. many  different  operating  systems  all  of  which  are
  26. installed on single  computer and easily  switch between
  27. them  at  booting  time.  In  some  cases  in  order  to
  28. comfortably  allocate  several   operating  systems   on
  29. single  computer   it  may   be  necessary   to   change
  30. partitions  structure  without  data  loss.  We strongly
  31. recommend  to  use  Disk  Administrator from OS Selector
  32. package  as  very  powerful,   safe  and  easy  to   use
  33. partition  manager.  A  competent  design and a friendly
  34. user interface makes using OS Selector a pleasure.

  128. 2.  System Requirements
  129. -----------------------

  131. OS Selector  can be  installed on  any computer  with at
  132. least i386 CPU, at least  4 megabytes RAM (you may  need
  133. 32 megabytes or  more to work  with large partitions  on
  134. large hard disks), a  3"5 floppy drive for  installation
  135. from a diskette or a CD-ROM drive for installation  from
  136. a  CD-ROM,  and  a  VGA-compatible  video-board (VBE 2.0
  137. compatibility is recommended)  and monitor. OS  Selector
  138. requires  at  least  10   megabytes  of  space  on   any
  139. FAT16/FAT32 partition (if your PC lacks FAT  partitions,
  140. Acronis OS Selector  Installation Wizard will  offer you
  141. to create  it). A  mouse would  be handy,  but is  not a
  142. must.

  144. OS Selector may conflict  with boot virus alarm  that is
  145. built into  many BIOSes  because it  frequently modifies
  146. the   MBR   and   boot   sector   contents.  For  normal
  147. performance  you  have  to   switch  this  option   off.
  148. Besides,  some  antiviral  software  may  warn you about
  149. possible  presence  of  viruses  in,  for  example,  the
  150. REINSTAL.COM file. If you  have grounds to suspect  that
  151. your computer is really infected you should perform  all
  152. the  necessary  diagnostics  and  cures  and  restore OS
  153. Selector  from  the  definitely  uninfected installation
  154. diskette.

  157. 3. Restrictions of Personal and Demo versions

  160. Personal version has the following restrictions:

  162. *ááIts Disk  Administartor may  perform operations  with
  163.    FAT16/FAT32 partitions only.

  165. Deluxe Demo version has the following restrictions:

  167. *  Progressive booting delay;
  168.  
  169. *  Impossibility    to    commit    changes   in    Disk
  170.    Administrator.
